Jackie Jaxx, born Jackie Alicia Hanover on April 28, 1990, in Georgetown, Guyana, is a multidisciplinary artist, singer-songwriter, and visual artist whose work delves into the layered realities of love, life, and selfhood.
Her musical sound draws from her Caribbean and Afro-Guyanese roots while moving across contemporary influences, creating a distinct fusion that is uniquely her own. Through songwriting and visual storytelling, Jackie creates work that is both deeply personal and expansive, reflecting the many dimensions of her artistic world.
Jackie’s professional music journey began in her late teens when she became a finalist in the 2009 Carib Soca Monarch competition. She first gained recognition performing soulful renditions of songs by artists such as Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, and Etta James at pageants, ceremonies, and live events throughout Guyana. After several years of performing, she began releasing original music and officially adopted the name Jackie Jaxx in 2013.
In 2016, Jackie released “Guyana,” a song that became closely associated with the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations. Its success expanded her reach beyond Guyana, leading to performances across the Caribbean, the United States, and Beijing, China, where she represented Guyana at the 2016 Horticultural Expo. Her music has also reached international television audiences, including a feature on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
In 2022, Jackie headlined the Caribbean Rhythm Showcase in Jamaica, further expanding her presence within the wider Caribbean music landscape.
Her evolution as an artist continued in 2025 with the debut of Topside, her Afro-fusion band, at Carifesta XV in St. Michael, Barbados. She continues to tour with Topside while expanding her creative practice across music, art, and original media.
A visual artist since childhood, Jackie started drawing at the age of five. During the 2020 pandemic lockdown, she began bringing her artwork into the world of apparel through her former brand, Jaxx Apparel. What began as an extension of her visual practice has continued to evolve into original artwork for clothing and accessories, as well as paintings and other visual works that she now offers through her website.
Alongside her artistic practice, Jackie is the creator and host of The Goldmind Revolution, a podcast and discovery platform for creatives. She is also the founder of Topside Music House, an independent creative production company that develops commercial music, videos and film.
